Muscle Tone vs Muscle Mass

Contrary to what most have read in popular bodybuilding magazines and various Internet sites, those who desire a very cut, ripped, defined physique without freaky professional bodybuilder size train identically to those who seek 100 lbs of added muscle mass! Therefore, if you are currently skinny OR fat, producing a lean, athletic looking physique (a “beach” body) is only possible through both the addition of new muscle mass (not large quantities, but enough to “tone”) and a reduction in body fat.

Regardless of what you may have read elsewhere, muscle tone is not defined as mere fat loss, but rather is comprised of small to moderate levels of new muscle mass in conjunction with body fat reduction, as the combination of muscle gain and fat loss leads to the lean, defined build associated with models and athletes. Fat loss without new muscle mass will not develop a slim, firm, shredded physique, but rather a skinny, lanky body that lacks a pleasant tone and shape.

Many mistakenly assume that huge, eye-popping muscle mass will always result from weight training, while in fact proper resistance exercise coupled with an effective diet strategy is necessary even for those who only seek muscle tone, with calories controlling the level of muscle mass built. With the exception of caloric intake, those who desire a lean, model-like appearance must weight train and diet identically to those targeting large increases in muscle mass, as lower calories will prohibit considerable muscle gain, instead producing moderate improvements while consistently reducing body fat, leading to a very defined, lean, athletic build.

So, will I instruct you to train for 3 hours per day, 6 days per week? Absolutely not! Whether your goal is large or small levels of muscle mass, training length is reasonable and intense. With proper weight training and diet principles, YOU can control the level of muscle mass gained and fat lost (through food quantity), meaning any and all goals are possible with ONE plan.

I have achieved tremendous success (over 60 lbs of new muscle mass) through proper diet and weight training alone, so am now teaching the world how to follow in my footsteps through the MuscleNOW natural bodybuilding program, without supplements or steroids.
